My Favorite Place
Nantucket, Massachusetts has been a summertime hiatus for my family since my dad started his annual visits in 1974. Honestly, I would not describe it as my favorite, but I will say that I have developed a special connection with the island that keeps me coming back. The fresh air that kisses you the moment you step foot off the plane, the natural conservation of Nantucket’s profound beauty and the nearly perfectly preserved 18th-century whaling mecca. I was lucky enough to begin my career here this past summer as a Public Relations intern, which has been a childhood dream of mine. No matter where I find myself in the world, I know that Nantucket will always pull me back to its beautiful shores.
Oh, this is great, Brooke: I have always heard of Nantucket, but I don't think I've ever seen a picture before. Maybe you could do a project for this class about the legends of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. There's a section of Nantucket legends here, for example: Myths and Legends of Our Own Land: Martha's Vineyard And Nantucket ... you might want to explore that next week when you are brainstorming project possibilities. :-)
