Cupid and Psyche: Part B
- Venus and the Goddesses
- Preface: Venus is Aphrodite
- Husband to Vulcan the god of metalworking
- did not love him
- Mars (Ares) the god of war was a lover of hers
- Cupid is hurt, a bird goes to tell Venus underwater
- tells Venus her household is basically a laughing stock not doing their duty
- Told her he actually married Psyche
- Venus rushed to Cupid, went off
- said she will have another son and will give him all of Cupid's gear
- Warns him he will regret going against her wishes
- Venus left and saw Juno and Ceres who told her to let it go
- her son is young and likes a pretty girl, do not make a bit deal
- Ignored them and went back tot he ocean
- Juno- wife of Zeus, queen of heaven
- Ceres- goddess of harvest
- Psyche's Prayer
- Psyche looking for Cupid still
- Went to a shrine
- ended up bring Ceres, who found Psyche there cleaning her shrine
- Ceres asked how could she be doing this when Venus wants her head
- Psyche asked if she could hide in the shrine
- Ceres felt bad but had to say no out of respect
- Found Juno's Shrine next
- prayed for protection
- Juno appeared and denied out of respect
- Venus and Mercury
- Psyche looking for Venus thinks to just go to her and get it over with
- maybe Cupid is with his mother anyway
- Venus went to the heavens to find Mercury the messenger god
- told him to spread the word of her appearance so no one will harbor her
- the reward was seven kisses from Venus and one with tongue
- all men began a witch hunt
- but Familiarity found Psyche at Venus' door
- Venus and Psyche
- Psyche gets punished by Anxiety and Sorrow
- Venus says Psyche is pregnant
- says the wedding and child are illegitimate because it was done without cupids fathers consent and without recognition
- Then Venus beat her
- then told her to sort grains
- Ants came to do the task for her and took pity on her
- Psyche's Next Task
- Venus did not believe it was her work
- Cupid is locked up in the same house
- Venus told Psyche to get the fleece of a golden sheep
- Psyche left, but to go jump off a cliff
- someone stopped her and gave her advice on how to get the fleece
- Got the fleece, but is given one last task because Venus was annoyed
- Get freezing liquid from the fountain that feeds into Styx and Cocytus
- The Third Task
- Psyche left and approached deadly jagged rock walls with rivers going through and snakes warning her to not go forward
- She was stone moving forward very weary
- Jupiter's royal eagle took pity and went to help her
- Eagle said you're crazy even the gods do not go to these waters
- told her to give him the vial so he could go fill it
- threatened, but said it was on Venus' orders
- The Jar of Beauty
- Venus accused Psyche of being a witch for doing the impossible task
- told Psyche to go get beauty from Proserpine from the underworld for Venus
- needs it after "caring for Cupid"
- Psyche finally realizes that none of these tasks were meant to be completed
- she is trying to be destroyed
- went to kill herself again but was stopped
- Is told how to get to Pluto's place without dying, do not drink liquid
- Two barley cakes for the dog
- Two coins for the boat transfer
- don't lose either or Psyche will not make it back
- Followed exactly what to do, but wants to drink divine beauty
- The Sleep of the Dead
- Opened the jar, but immediately fell into a corpse-like sleep
- Cupid regained strength and flew to Psyche's rescue
- Told her that her curiosity almost killed her again, and sent her to his mother to finish
- Cupid then went to the heaven's to ask for support
- Jupiter agreed if he could have another crazy pretty girl
- The Wedding Feast
- Jupiter legitimized Cupid and Psyche's marriage
- Told Venus to not worry
- Told Mercury to bring Psyche to heaven
- Gave her ambrosia to be mortal
- Then a wedding feast appeared
- Everyone celebrated the wedding, tons of gods
- Psyche and Cupid later had a child named Pleasure
- Returns to the Old woman and the girl prisoner
- Robbers return with loot
- left again with the donkeys to get more of it
- Donkeyman is now lame and the robbers want to throw him over a cliff
- Robbers leave again to go get hurt friends
- The Escape
- The Donkey, Lucius, realizes that his skin is not actual donkey skin, but a thin layer
- he can escape his skin and take the girl before the robbers get back
- Broke free of the ropes, the old women grabbed him, and he dragged her along
- kicked her in the legs
- The girl comes out and jumps on the Lucius' back, taking the ropes from the old women
- they both now were escaping together
- The girl goes on and on about how she will honor this donkey if he gets her home
- she wonders if she is on some deity or human
- The end?!?!?
Began to have a Cinderalla and Beauty and the Beast Vibe
